What does Mel-Co-Ed, Inc. make?
Mel-Co-Ed (MCE) is a precision metal stamping company with four divisions: Raw Stampings & Findings, Industrial Components, Finished Goods (die-struck badges, medallions, awards and fraternal emblems) and Precision Milling.
Where is Mel-Co-Ed located?
Our shop is at 381 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02860. We have operated in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, since 1948.
Is Mel-Co-Ed a family-owned company?
Yes. Mel-Co-Ed was founded in 1948 and is a third-generation, family-owned business.
How do I request a quote for custom metal stamping?
Use the Request a Quote form or call (401) 724-2160. Include a drawing or sample, the material, finish, quantity and the date you need parts. Prints, CAD files and photos all help.
Can you make die-struck police and government badges?
Yes. Die-struck police, fire, military and government badges are part of our Finished Goods division. Badges are struck from steel dies for sharp, deep detail.
What is your minimum order quantity and typical lead time?
Our minimum is 3 gross (432 pieces) per item; smaller runs are available at a higher price. No minimums on sterling silver or gold. Lead time is typically 3–8 weeks.
How is pricing set?
Pricing is quoted at the time of order, based on current metal prices. Custom work is quoted per job.
What are the two ways to buy from Mel-Co-Ed?
Open Line: More than 30,000 stock findings, stampings and pattern stock, ready to run. No tooling cost. Confined & Custom: Your design on your own exclusive die, run only for you. Have dies or metal already? We’ll run yours.
What metals do you work with?
Brass (230/260), Copper, Nickel silver, Sterling silver, Fine silver, Gold & gold filled, Stainless steel, Aluminum, Cold-rolled steel, Zinc. All metals available, or send us yours.
Ordering & tooling
Do you build the tooling for my parts?
Yes. Dies are designed and built in-house, supported by our Precision Milling division, so tooling, changes and repairs stay on our schedule.
Who owns the tooling I pay for?
Tell us how you prefer to handle tooling and we will confirm ownership terms in your quote.
Do you work with distributors and resellers?
Yes. We make parts and finished pieces for regalia suppliers, uniform and equipment suppliers, award companies and other distributors, to their designs.
Do you sell to individuals?
Tell us what you need and the quantity, and we will let you know whether it is a fit.
What are your payment terms?
Payment terms are confirmed on your quote.
How do you ship orders?
Orders ship from Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Tell us your delivery requirements and we will confirm the shipping method in your quote.
